A Life Changing Invitation
Watched any great movies lately?
Have you seen a great movie lately? I did. It was not a new movie, but one that come out in 2008. But for me it was new. It was an historical movie about Albert Einstein and Arthur Eddington. There were a number of themes explored in the movie, religion and science, nationality and science, Jews and the Nazi regime. I would heartily recommend it to you. It was thought provoking and thrilling. All this without violence and vulgar language. If you have a chance you should see it.
Have you seen a great movie or read a good book lately? Have you shared your impressions of the book or movie with someone? A friend, neighbor or coworker? Was it easy for you to do that? Were you afraid that someone would think you were weird or over the top?
Why all these questions?
I ask these questions because it seems we are more likely to tell someone about a movie than we are to tell someone about the love of Christ and the rich life that comes from a life lived in Christ.
You would sooner tell someone about a great movie than a great worship service. Why is the movie more important than the Savior?
Did you know that 82% of people would come to church if a trusted friend invited them? Yet in a typical year, only 2% of Christians invite a friend to church. Heartbreaking.
Inviting someone to a movie will give them a great evening. Inviting someone to church can change their life.
Here is another thing I know. People are most receptive to an invitation to church during the Advent and Christmas season.
Don’t be afraid.
This Advent, invite someone to church, it might just change their life
